About

Nightshiftster is my personal writing blog that consists of short stories, memoirs and poetry that I’ve amassed over the last 15 years or so. When I first started this blog, I was just typing up poems that I had on looseleaf, in notebooks, and scrap pieces of paper. Now I try to post at least once or twice a day, or when someone or something moves me. This space has become a sort of habitual sacred haven for me, and I honor it to the best of my ability.

It’s also always been my dream to write or self-publish my own book of poetry. I have had a few poems published and have created a zine, but alas, no book as of yet. I plan on doing so in the near future and for now, wordpress will do. ๐Ÿ˜‰ On a side note, I am happy to say I run a high school literary arts magazine called Epic Toast and we are in our third year of publishing.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my poetry. Please don’t be afraid or too shy to like posts or leave comments! I really like to hear from people that read my blog. I’m also open to following your blog, so please stay in touch.

Wondering where I get all my awesome photos? Check out my husband’s photography blog: bvolunuev.wordpress.com

I have a few other blogs that I use on other platforms. If you’re on this site, you are probably on the other ones too, so please follow me there as well! Check these out:

  1. Hi,

Hi! Iโ€™m so pleased that you recently visited and decided to follow my blog on:

    http://randalane.wordpress.com

โ€œRanda Laneโ€ฆโ€ is now devoted almost entirely to haiku, tanka, other short verse forms.

Iโ€™ve just been reading your poetry and have been absolutely blown away by its power, beauty, and maturity of poetic expression!! With joy I now “follow” you! If you have written a book of poetry, I would love to purchase a copy. Please let me know? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Best Success,

    • Hi!

Thank you so much for following back. I really like your poetry as well and love all the links you have to other poets. I am finding some really good stuff to read and inspire me.

I WISH I could publish a book. That has been a dream of mine. I will get to it some day. Thank you for your kind words.

      Katherine

  2. First, thank you for the follow. I appreciate that. I self-published a book of my poetry a couple years ago. It’s not hard, and I loved the process. I used iUniverse, but there are many indie publishers out there. Do the research and choose the one that fits your needs. I decided to just go for it, and how glad I am that I did. I want to do another one now and have the idea and title. Now I need to get everything organized and I’ll be on it. I’ll be glad to be support for you if you decide to do this.

  3. I absolutely love your poetry! I am an aspiring writer as well. I mostly write poetry and short stories, and hopefully may write a whole novel one day. Glad to have found this lovely space of yours ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi, I wanted to thank you for the follow! Please be aware that my blog is a bilingual one. So you may get links to some poems in English as well as to some in Italian… Pictures, on the other hand, have no language barriers ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Keep up the good work.
    Anna

  5. Hi,
I really like your poems and can connect with them. I recently started a blog and am slowly building it up and I really hope you can find the time to read it. I’ve posted a poem ‘ A Woman’s Prayer’ on it… I took Literature in the university but this is my novice attempt at writing poetry. I would really appreciate your feedback on my writing. Thanks.
